As a direct reflection of exciting growth coupled with increased scientific output of excellence, VHIO is pleased to announce a new scientific structure which has been specifically engineered to deliver on the next essential phase of expansion and the reinforcement of its purely translational research model.
Previously scientific activity was organized as two major programs - clinical and basic research - incorporating several groups, each led by respective Principle Investigators (PIs). Scientific activity at VHIO is now structured across four major programs: Preclinical Research, Translational Research, Clinical Research and Core Technologies.

It includes the Scientific Director, the Preclinical Research Director, the Translational Research Director, the Clinical Research Director; and the Managing Director.
In general terms the Executive Board is responsible for all structural or scientific matters of general interest and executing the recommendations of other bodies.
Main functions:
The Research Support Services are organized into professionally specialized functional areas.

The Research Commission is made up of the Scientific Director, the Preclinical Research Director, the Clinical Research Director and the Translational Research Director. The Managing Director and the R&d Office Manager are present as non-voting advisors.
