During yesterday’s beautifully bright yet freezing cold Sunday morning, the Spanish Association against Cancer (AECC) brought its Run against Cancer to Barcelona for the very first time. Organized into three different categories, the many participants could select between a 10km race, 5km run, and a gentler paced 2.5km walk. Crowds of spectators also gathered to eagerly support essential research aimed at solving cancer sooner, cheer the runners and walkers on, and soak up the wonderfully energized atmosphere.
VHIO´s very own Running for Research (R4R) also made its mark during yesterday’s public fundraiser. Not only were our researcher-runners instantly recognizable in their VHIO R4R branded caps and t-shirts, they also continued to engage in conversation with fellow runners and other members of the public present about the importance of research against cancer.
In addition, VHIO News is very proud to report that its R4R champions once again ranked high. The results are in:
|Men – total 655 runners||Ranking|
|Daniel Massó Vallés (co-founder of VHIO’s R4R)||23|
|Women – total 506 runners||Ranking|
|Irene Rius Ruiz (co-founder of VHIO’s R4R)||7|
|Men – total 283 runners||Ranking|
|Women – total 599 runners||Ranking|
|Laia Foradada Felip||108|
VHIO’s Running for Research (R4R) currently comprises a team of 17 researchers who are participating in several half and full marathons to mix and mingle with the general public and spread the word about who we are, what we do, and promote the value and importance of supporting cancer research towards improving outcomes for cancer patients, now and in the future.
