Officially announced earlier this year, the EU-funded Cancer Core Europe Consortium-Building Data Rich Clinical Trials (CCE-DART) is a multi-site project incorporating leading experts from the seven European cancer centers belonging to Cancer Core Europe (CCE), including VHIO, along with an additional five other non-CCE partners*.
Coordinated by VHIO’s Elena Garralda, Director of our Research Unit for Molecular Therapy of Cancer (UITM) – CaixaResearch (co-led by VHIO’s Director, Josep Tabernero), and Principal Investigator of our Early Clinical Drug Development Group, CCE-DART is now underway to develop and advance interconnected tools to simplify the current complexities of investigator-initiated trials (IITs), and better steer clinical decision-making by incorporating a suite of cutting-edge digital technologies and platforms.
Specifically, CCE-DART builds on the CCE-developed Basket of Baskets (BoB) investigator-initiated and adaptive trial which launched in 2018, and seeks to further enhance BoB’s harmonized, molecular multi-tier profiling platform to more precisely match patients to novel anti-cancer medicines based on the genetic specificities of their individual tumors. In parallel, the researchers will continue to develop multiple treatments in genomically-selected populations.
Now up and running, CCE-DART’s official website outlines the project’s objectives and organizational structure, provides information on the participating partners and their corresponding roles across the various, defined work actions and packages, and sets out expected deliverables and impact. This portal will also include a ‘Collaborate with us’ tab for potential proposals.
