A wet-lab Research Technician position is available from Feb-March 2021 at the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology’s Prostate Cancer Translational Research Group, initially to cover a 6-months absence (maternity leave) but then with the possibility of continuation as the group plans to expand towards Q4-2021.
Our group focuses on studying and testing hypothesis-based targeted therapies in prostate cancer and we are especially committed to applying the potential clinical value of our findings to clinical trials
We are seeking an organized, motivated and team-oriented individual with previous experience working in a clinical/translational research laboratory either in the academic or private sector. The candidate should have previous experience in working with patient plasma/blood samples
The successful candidate will form an integral part of the scientific team and support the execution of the group’s translational research program.
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Processing, aliquoting and storage of blood and plasma samples from different studies.
- DNA and RNA extraction from tissue, saliva and plasma/blood samples.
- Preparation of next-generation sequencing libraries.
- Cell culture, cloning and transfection tasks to provide support to other projects of the groups.
- Experience with handling human tumor samples
- Experience with maintaining databases
- Exceptional attention to detail, scientific rigor, and strong organisation, troubleshooting and multitasking skills.
- Experience with ddPCR, qPCR and FISH
- Experience in preparing sections from paraffin blocks
- Training in Good Clinical Practice for managing clinical research specimens.
The candidate is expected to be able to communicate well in English, even if it is not his/her first language.
In principle, this is a 6-months position with the possibility of extending the contract thereafter based on performance as we have received funding for an additional project starting Q4 2021.
Salary will be estimated according to profile and experience.
The start date will be on Feb-March 2021.
